Impact in Bloom: A Spring Gathering

Impact in Bloom: A Spring Gathering
Featuring Previous Grantees

Join GIVING WoMN for an early Spring event to learn more about two previous GW grantee recipients, Breaking Free and CornerHouse. All GIVING WoMN members and their guests are invited to join for fellowship and to learn more about the important work of these two long-time organizations in our community.

Breaking Free has been bringing freedom and hope from sex trafficking for 30 years. Their mission is to end all forms of sex trafficking and exploitation while helping survivors build safe, stable futures. They envision a world free from all forms of sex trafficking and exploitation where everyone has the opportunity to live with dignity, independence, and the freedom to realize their full potential.

For 35 years, CornerHouse has stood as a place of safety, healing and hope for children and families impacted by child abuse. They have guided families through the disclosure, investigation, and legal processes with compassion and expertise. In addition, CornerHouse trains professionals across the country in best practices for responding to child abuse and delivers prevention education that empowers communities to stop abuse before it begins.

Lori Quist and Connie Clark from Breaking Free will be sharing their mission as well as how the $25,000 GW grant they received in 2024 was utilized in their Permanent Housing and Outreach programs. Additionally, Stacey Jensen and Christy Shannon from CornerHouse will provide an update on how the 2025 $20,000 GW grant they received has impacted their organization.

ACTION ITEMS: Donations Needed (Please consider bringing to the event)

Breaking Free is always in need of portable foods (granola bars, protein bars, individual pouches, etc.), blankets, hand warmers, gloves, mittens, and hats. They also use Walmart gift cards to purchase items for kids and assist them with ongoing school needs.

CornerHouse is currently in need of food and/or gas gift cards. This is the greatest strain on families right now, especially given the current climate in Minneapolis and the number of caregivers who are hesitant to leave their homes. In addition to gift cards, hygiene items such as soap, deodorant, diapers, wipes, and similar essentials are always needed.
